Al sinds de introductie van de jeans in Europa in de jaren ’50 is Lee jeans nooit weg geweest uit De Rode Winkel. Wij vieren deze bijzondere relatie tussen De Rode Winkel en Lee Jeans met een speciale dry denim.

De Rode Winkel is one of the oldest denim stores in Holland. They were one of the first retailers with brands as Levi’s and Lee Jeans. De Rode Winkel is already doing business with the classic denim brands for more than 60 years! De Rode Winkel is situated in the centre of Utrecht. The history of the store goes way back to 1837 when Johannes and Annaatje Broekman started the family business. The store was started as a specialty store which provided workwear clothing for labors, farmers and gardeners in Utrecht. It was 1911 when their sons, Anthonius and Augustinus, opened their own store ‘Gebr. Broekman Heerenmode’ across the street with menswear and suits. Later this store was transformed into the name Thom Broekman.

Now 180 years later both stores are still active and very respected. Both stores are in hands of the 6thBroekman generation. On the 21th of April they will re-open De Rode Winkel store. The re-newed store will have a big collection with 6.500 jeans on stock. They also added some new brands to their collection: Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Made & Crafted, Levi’s Orange Tab, Edwin, BDD, Naked and Famous, Libertine-Libertine, Junk de Lux, MacFincher, Fabienne Chapot, The boy scouts, Kaibosh, Jacob Cohen, Neuw, Armor Lux, Stuttenheim, Arkk and Damn Good Soap.

To celebrate this impressive milesstone they teamed-up with Lee 101 Jeans to create a special limited Lee X De Rode Winkel edition jeans. This is uncommon as Lee Jeans isn’t collaborate that much with retailers or brands. For the special -180 years- they made a jeans with fabric from the Japanese Kaihara Mill. The jeans, a Lee Jeans Rider fit, is made of deadstock No. 49 fabric. Its a 13oz blue selvage lefthand twill fabric. The leather patch is stamped with De Rode Winkel logo and on the inside of the jeans they printed the history of the store. The jeans is made in very limited quantities of 25 pieces only and available in their store. Congrats with the anniversary and the launch of this special collab jeans!
